To empower families and businesses to protect our future through funding mangrove forestry.
Mangroves are truly miracles of nature, as they form green shields (bold or caps), which protect coastal communities from rising seas, storms, and even tsunamis. Their roots form a living lattice for coastal food webs, providing breeding grounds for fish and crustaceans and protection for smaller fish. These roots also filter the water, reducing pollution and allowing sea flora and fauna to thrive. As the forests grow, they not only prevent erosion, but they reclaim land from the sea. In addition, mangroves are green lungs (bold or caps) for the planet, sequestering ten times more carbon (referred to as Blue Carbon because of the relationship to the sea) than the trees in temperate forests and producing massive amounts of oxygen.
