PROJECT PORTFOLIO

The Blue Carbon Corridor is GMT’s flagship blue carbon initiative in North Sumatra and Aceh. Designed as a multi-phase conservation and restoration programme, it brings together community stewardship, scientific integrity and long-term partnerships to build resilient blue carbon landscapes. Built on more than six years of field implementation, continuous learning and adaptive refinement across multiple strata, the programme reflects a scalable model for high-integrity blue carbon implementation.

The programme integrates locally led implementation with conservation integrity, high-quality carbon removals, nationally aligned carbon systems and internationally recognised standards, strengthening long-term ecosystem stewardship while providing the transparency and confidence needed to support responsible blue carbon finance.

OUR APPROACH

Our Approach to Stewardship

Successful conservation and restoration depend on long-term stewardship. They require trusted local partnerships, scientific integrity, effective governance and the ability to adapt as environmental, regulatory and market conditions evolve.

GMT connects community stewardship through a locally embedded delivery system with Indonesia’s national carbon systems and internationally recognised standards, creating a clear pathway from local implementation to responsible participation in international carbon markets. Embedding continuous monitoring, adaptive management and transparent governance throughout programme delivery helps identify emerging challenges early, informs management decisions and strengthens long-term ecosystem performance.

TESTIMONIALS

What people say about us

"What inspires me about GMT is their rigour - working with Matteo and Ryan I observed first hand, how GMT is never satisfied with simple solutions but wants to get to the root causes of problems. And yet, despite their academic drive, I admire the commitment to very hands on and pragmatic solutions. The team continues to positively surprise me on how to combine thorough analytic insight with solutions that truly meet realities on the ground. I have much confidence in the team to continue to innovate the field of community-driven conservation and reforestation."

"What stands out about GMT is their ability to bridge the gap between financial innovation and ecological impact. As a partner, we’ve seen how their team combines analytical depth with on-the-ground pragmatism never losing sight of community realities while developing scalable models for blue carbon finance. GMT brings a rare mix of precision, creativity, and long-term vision to the climate space, and Marex is happy to support their mission."
